Daniel Bradbury Dočekal Zhruba před rokem uvedené Kindle Fire pozici Apple (a iPadu) nijak neohrozilo a možná se dá říci, že se o to Amazon pokouší podruhé. Včera na trh uvedl dva nové tablety, které jsou charakteristické výrazně nízkou cenou, výhodnou cenou konektivity a (samozřejmě) tím, že důvodem jejich existence jsou zákazníky. Takoví, kteří si budou od Amazonu kupovat služby a zejména obsah. Což je ostatně také klíčovým bodem obchodního modelu a cestou k nízké ceně.
Původní Kindle Fire nebylo samozřejmě neúspěšné – podařilo se mu získat 22% podíl na trhu tabletů v USA. Amazon se navíc měl dostatek času poučit a postarat o výrazné zlepšení software a užitené hodnoty. Nové tablety Kindle Fire HD o tom svědčí. Vedle lepšího hardware nabízejí i řadu vylepšení právě v oblasti software.

Co získáte s novým Kindle Fire HD? S 4G verzí je zahrnut měsíční plán na 250MB dat, 20GB cloudového úložiště a 10 dolarů credit pro appstore – za 50 dolarů ročně. Připotěte k tomu cenu 499 dolarů a máte tablet, který je výrazně levnější než iPad a schopný mu (svým způsobem) konkurovat (samozřejmě, iPad má stále větši obrazovku, 9.7″ a řadu jiných výhod a vychytávek).
Procesor – Dual core OMAP 1.5GHz (původní Kindle Fire mělo 1GHz, 7″ Fire HD má 1.2Ghz) sice není srovnatelný s Nexus 7 Quad Core, pořád je to ale slušná nabídka. WiFi (dual-band chip, který by měl být výrazně rychlejší než iPad či Nexus 7). Android 4.0 (takže to vypadá, že bohužel ne 4.1, ale to je dáno tím, že si Amazon klasicky Android výrazně přizpůsobuje pro své e-knižní potřeba). Nově v Kindle Fire HD najdete i Bluetooth a také čelní kameru.
Rozlišení displeje 1920×1200 (samozřejmě, “není” to Retina, ale je to solidní) u 8.9″, 1280×800 u 7″ verze (což je mimochodem totéž jak Nexus 7).
4G verze je zatím pouze v LTE provedení, o tom kdy bude k dispozici klasické “evropské” 4G není nic známo.
Abych ale nezapomněl, Amazon uvedl ještě Kindle Paperwhite čtečku – novou variantu Kindle Touch. K dispozici je ve dvou podobách – 3G a WiFi. Nabízí 1024×768 rozlišení kapacitivního dotykového 6″ “PaperWhite” E-ink displeje, 8 týdnů použitelnosti na jedn nabití a 9.1mm tloušťku. Amazon to komentoval slovy, že je “tenčí nez magazín a lehčí než paperback”. WiFi verze stojí 119 USD (na trhu od 1. října) a 3G verze stojí 179 USD (na trhu také od 1. října).
