Learn how to create aliases (macros) and how to use them to help you and your fellows. And even see some examples
First of all, you need to know how to create an alias (macro).
/alias [add] ;name command
The ";name" can then be used in your chat window. It will just execute the command, or will get replaced by text (aliases can be used as just text substituion). The add part is optional.
Second of all, you need to know how to assign alias or just directly a command to quicklot
/shortcut number ;name
This one is however bit tricky and very limited.
- Try not to have anyone as target when adding anything that uses ;target
- number has a range 1-72, whereas every bar has 12 slots. And there is no easy and sure way how to know where it will really land by just looking at your screen
- You cannot give an assigned one some nice icon, it will show as black with few letters from ";name" and will be nearly unredable
- You can move created one from "wrong" spot to the one you would like
- You can create key-binding for slot, but there is no command for it, only manual way through Options

This is a possibility to assign a command directly to quickslot without need to create alias (macro).
Third of all, there is no way how you can use aliases (macro) to DO anything significant. You cannot cast, you cannot target specific monster or player, you cannot do more than one activity in alias. Even aliases can be chained, it's true only for those serving as text replacement.
So far it is certain that Turbine/Codemasters will not add into game anything, that will allow creating a automated toons (bots). Despite a fact, there are hundreths of bot on every server and they use some external botting system, game makers are sure, that having only slightly useles aliasing system is the right way how to do it. For the same reason, there is no /target command which will let you target something by name. Call it clever, call it stupid, it's just how it is.
And last, there are some predefined aliases
;target - name of your current target
;loc - your geographical location
;t /tell ;target
;i /invite ;target
;tloc /t yourname ;loc
;ame *** Raid target is now ;target *** please assist me
;mzt /f *** Mezzing ;target *** do not hit it ***

Personally i have dozens of aliases where i store often repeated texts - like "how to turn on Raid Assist" or parameters of our Kin Ventrilo system. I even have some ";riftXX" aliases with basis tactics for bosses for case it's needed. And of course, one from first aliases i made was the ;kinadvert - it just shows out kinship advertisement.
